Inserts
Not just inserts —
helpful inserts!
Keep a planner long enough and some chores keep coming back: rewriting what you didn't finish on tomorrow's page, adding up the hours you studied, writing the same thing every week. Spiralday's inserts do those for you.
Carry over
Unfinished? Tomorrow it is.
No need to rewrite today's leftovers on tomorrow's page.
- → Moved — Choose → in the check box, and the task writes itself onto the next day's page.
- Carry △ · × too — Turn on carry-over in Settings, and partly done and missed tasks move to the next day as well. It's set per planner and starts off.
- One task to another day — Pick a day in ‘Move to Another Day’ to move just that task. You can undo it.
- Move a whole page — Tap the big date (DATE) to open the ‘Page’ calendar. Move this page to another day, skip days off, and bring skipped days back.
- Weekends off — Turn off Sat · Sun in Arrange Planner, and what you move on Friday goes to Monday.
On each device — On Mac · Windows, right-click a task. On iPhone · iPad · Android, long-press a task to open the menu.
Timetable
Paint it, and the hours add up.
Pick a highlighter and drag across the 10-minute boxes. That's it — the paper does the math.
- TOTAL TIME — Painted boxes add straight into the day's total, and each highlighter's hours are counted separately too.
- Highlighters your way — Name them, color them and order them: deep work, meetings, study. Make up to 12.
- Mealtimes · notes — Join 🍴 mealtimes with an arrow, and jot short notes on top of the timetable.
- Start time — Have the timetable start at 6 AM, at midnight, or at any hour you like.
- Stats — Open [Stats] on the shelf to see this week's and this month's hours, daily average, streak, task completion, hours per highlighter, and your favorite times and days, all on one page.
Time-log Planner — A daily page where writing a time like ‘9:00 – 9:40’ next to a task paints the time strip beside it in that task's highlighter color. Available on Mac · Android for now.
○ △ ×
Checking off takes one tap.
Each tap on the check box next to a task cycles through ○ done, △ partly, × missed and → moved.
Progress %
Pick from 0 % to 100 % in steps of 10 %. The number shows in the check box, and 100 % counts as ○. A task you move to tomorrow keeps its progress.
Strikethrough
When plans change, leave the mark as it is and draw a line through the words. Struck-through tasks don't carry over to the next day.
Grouped by highlighter
Pick a highlighter in the box before a task, and tasks with the same highlighter gather together. Long-press and drag to reorder them.
Long tasks
Wrap a long task onto the next line, or shrink it to fit one line. You choose for each task.
Task ↔ memo pad
Turn a task into a memo pad, or a memo pad into tasks — one per line, or a single task.
Undo
Tapped the wrong mark, progress, strikethrough or move? Undo it. ⌘Z on Mac, Ctrl+Z on Windows, and the undo button on phones and tablets.
Repeat
Weekly things, written just once.
Set a repeat, and when you open a page ahead, that day's tasks are already there.
Repeating tasks
Daily · weekly · monthly · yearly, with an end date if you like. When you edit or delete one, it asks: ‘This Day Only’ or ‘All Upcoming’.
Repeating D-days
Until the exam, until payday — repeat a D-day every week · every 2 weeks · every month · every year and it counts down to the next one. It can also stick itself on every day.
In several planners
Something that belongs in both your work and personal planners? Write it once and share it to the other planner. Marks change together.
Pages
A day · a week · a month, and many kinds of inserts.
In Arrange Planner, look at the week and month layouts and put a different page on each weekday. Or start from a set: Basic, With Diary, For Work, or Study.
Daily
DATE · D-DAY · COMMENT · TOTAL TIME · 15 task lines · a link box · a timetable in 10-minute steps. Switch a day to a checklist day with tasks only, no timetable.
Weekly
One landscape page with MY GOAL and a weekly review, plus tasks and a timetable in seven columns, Mon to Sun.
Monthly
A decorated calendar page. Each day shows its tasks · D-days · a strip of painted hours, and the month plan beside it holds goals · habits · notes.
Notes · diary
Lined · grid · plain notes and a diary. Writing sits on the lines, and a long diary entry grows to two pages.
Week plan · month plan
Put a plan insert before a week or a month. Slip inserts in before or after any year · month · week · day.
Cover · bookmarks
Every planner has a cover, and the pages you open often get named bookmarks.
Cornell Notes — A study-note insert split into three parts: keywords · notes · summary. Like the Time-log Planner, it's on Mac · Android for now. Sample planners — Add sample books like a diary, a work log or a study planner from Settings to look around.
Page turn
Pages turn like real paper.
Grab a corner of the page and drag: it curls up under your finger, and when you let go it turns over toward the rings. We even drew the front's ink showing faintly through the back.
Computers — Swipe with two fingers on a trackpad, or press ← →. On Mac, the spiral rings stick out past the window's edge.
